New member of the board of directors will continue her father’s philanthropic legacy at the Foundation.

Stupski Foundation is pleased to announce the appointment of Maida Lynn to its board of directors. Maida, the daughter of Larry Stupski, brings decades of experience in strategic philanthropy, nonprofit management, documentary filmmaking, and education to advance the Foundation toward its spend down goals.
“We are grateful to have Maida join the board to carry on Larry Stupski’s legacy. She brings strategic philanthropic expertise and insight into the public education system that will be critical to the next phase of the Foundation’s spend down,” said Jim Wiggett, board chair of the Stupski Foundation.
Maida’s work with the Foundation began when she joined the staff of the initial Stupski Foundation in 2008 to implement initiatives in public K-12 districts across the country. In her role at the operating Foundation, she worked with superintendents, students, and administrators in school districts nationwide to develop a shared vision of what an improved education system would look like. The experience working with leaders across ages and roles within each school district afforded Maida the opportunity to see systems change initiatives yield promising impacts at the student level. She continued her work until the Foundation closed in 2012 when Larry’s health declined. Today as a board member, she is committed to continuing her father’s philanthropic legacy and advancing the vision that the Stupskis had to transform lives and invest in the communities they loved.
Maida grew up in San Francisco and has called the Bay Area home since she was six years old. She is the founder of Genuine Article Pictures, a philanthropic fund that supports creative nonfiction documentary filmmaking. Prior to her work in film, Maida enjoyed a 15-year career in education teaching English in the Bay Area and Ecuador.
Maida is actively involved in the strategic philanthropic community, efforts to protect and support democracy, and local Bay Area arts and education nonprofits. She has been a member of The Philanthropy Workshop since 2004. In 2020, she took the One for Democracy Pledge and joined the Democracy Funders Network. In the Bay Area, Maida served for 10 years on the board of directors of First Graduate. Currently, she serves on the board of the Roxie Theater in San Francisco.
“I have had the opportunity to work with Maida over the years learning about strategic philanthropy in the Bay Area and around the world. I am so pleased that she has joined the Stupski Foundation board to help our team advance our goals.” shared Glen Galaich, CEO of Stupski Foundation
As she joins the board, Maida shared: “I am honored to have the opportunity to carry on my father’s legacy at the Stupski Foundation and support the Foundation’s important systems change efforts in health care, education, and food systems in the communities that mean so much to me.”
